Has anybody successfully integrated any table rate shipping with local courier companies? What are other South African’s doing for shipping in Magento.

I have hit the common brick wall of “Sorry, no quotes are available for this order at this time.” with table rates - was trying to implement table rates with PostNet.

Any input, experience or thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Steve

For what it is worth - solved!! Only open the example CSV’s in notepad.

Update the following tables:
1) directory_country_region - add row

292 ZA NW North West Province
293 ZA NC Northern Cape
294 ZA WC Western Cape

2) directory_country_region_name - add row
en_US 278 Eastern Cape
en_US 287 Free State
en_US 288 Gauteng
en_US 289 Western Cape

Then from within Magento:
1) Goto system
2) Configuration
3) Select the relevant website on the left
4) Click “Shipping Methods” on left
5) Upload attached CSV.  DO NOT edit in Excel, use notepad

Have checked this all works but obviously needs refinement e.g. Post Code

tablerates.csv
Country,Region/State,Zip/Postal Code,Weight (and above),Shipping Price
Country,Region/State,Zip/Postal Code,Weight (and above),Shipping Price

I am now testing a new extension for shipping via Fastway Couriers. Here is writeup I just added to the Magento South Africa FAQ page:

Fastway Couriers has a comprehensive API which includes support for their SA franchises. WebShopApps have developed a Magento extension for Fastway, and recently (Jan 2012) updated it to also support South Africa. (If you can’t view extension be sure you are in their AU webstore)

The extension provides live Fastway Courier rates including facilities to:
- Specify whether to display rates for satchels or standard road delivery, or both
- Specify your sending depot for accurate rates
- Supports Australia & South Africa Depots

Welcome CasperovZA to Magento. I have a few suggestions to help you getting on your way and solving your problem with setting up table rates:

- Consider installing ‘ConnectGento South African Regions’ extension so you will have South African regions added to Magento (easier for customers then needing to type value)
Description: This extension adds the 9 Regions / Provinces of South Africa to your Magento Store.

- Consider installing ‘Shipping Table Rates’ extension
Description: The Shipping Table Rates is the additional tool to manage shipping table rates in an easy way. You may filter, append, modify records through the web interface instead of batch file uploading each time you need your rates to be changed.

Has anyone been able to get a CSV file from them?
Im looking for a Fastway and/or Courier Guy Postal Code CSV.

All I need is Region/State and ZIP/Postal Code.

I would really appreciate any advice.

Hey Guys

I’m wondering if someone can help me.

I’ve installed the Fastway module, downloaded from webshop apps and it’s only showing cities in Australia. I assume I need to add a new CSV file but can’t get hold of anyone from Fastway SA.

Can anyone help?
