I had a bad experience with elief.com hosting: first 3 weeks were fine, then every day my site was down every day for 45 minutes…
I moved to HostMonster, they are really good!!!
Alex could you let us know the domain name you had with us? I am having trouble believing this is genuine since I haven’t seen any support tickets open regarding this, and we haven’t recorded any downtime as extensive as you mentioned for any of our servers.

I am with you guys now this has been my experience… website is really slow almost every night… after 11pm est ...
3 days in the database failed… you guy said SOL we cant restore you after 3 days offline.... when the database went down you turned off the helpdesk…
a couple of days ago… I posted a ticket about the PHP path so i could setup my cron… I asked because I know the litespeed path to php is sometimes different… the the “standard cpanel one” 8 hours later… i posted again asking about the delay… was told we’re checking…
In my mind this is 101 IT tech support… know what the paths are… 2 more hours latter I was given the “standard path"…
I’m ready to bolt… just dont know whereto go…
I also have a Simplehelix accoount… they are fast… but support is iffy at times… havent been there long enough to know if it’s a problem…
Basically magento script requires lots of resources , so when you know you have large amount of products on your store its always good go for dedicated server rather than getting you account on shared server , at peak working hours every site start getting traffic and mostly magento store suffer in that.
My suggestion will alway be for the best performance of your store go for dedicated server , we have more than 50 such clients never had a complain on dedicated server.

You are not entirely forced into using a dedicated server for optimal Magento Performance.
We sort of know this for a fact. - And by experience.
Have been using magento on hostgator for a little while now and have had hardly any problems, had an installation problem but after contacting support i got it fixed in about 15 min, pretty good i think.
NEVER EVER EVER USE BLUEHOST- I have been on hold with them for over an hour because they completely deleted my magento store… finally we got it fixed (about 3 weeks ago) and now 15 wordpress installs on a completely different account, on a completely different server have been deleted
EVERYTHING GONE, INSTANTLY, THEY SAY THEY CAN’T RESTORE IT AND NOW THEY WON’T EVEN OFFER ME SUPPORT
BLUEHOST WILL SCREW YOU UP, I DON’T CARE WHO YOU USE, BUT NEVER USE BLUEHOST
We do however not utilize Nginx.
- But provide our clients with tools like Plesk Domain Admin, DNS Administration, Sub Domains. etc.
Along with quite optimized magento hosting.
