What is the minimum required modules for Magento to run?  I assume Core, but it appears you can disable that if you want.

@nivekiam: If by disabling you mean the page in admin / configuration / advanced - it’s only disables output, not the module functionality.\

To get an idea of required modules see the dependency chart here:

Not minimum system requirements, but minimum modules needed for Magento to run.  Under Admin > System > Configuration > Advanced; which modules can be disabled and still have Magento still function.  Some modules appear to be pretty self explanitory by name, but what exactly is, SearchLucene or Eav or Directory or Datafeed or Core or Admin or Install?  I would think Admin and Core are essential to having Magento run and if you disable them you are s.o.l. for getting back in to re-enable them unless you edit a config file or database depending on where those switches are.  Is Mage_Install the installer?

Some of this is just getting into the documentation just isn’t there yet as the devs are working hard on the code and you don’t want to do a lot of user documentation until the feature set is more solidified.  It would be nice to know what some of this stuff did though.

Why does the USA need a specific module or does Mage_USA stand for something other that The United States of America?

@nivekiam: Mage_Usa was an idea to group US specific modules (shipping, payment, etc.)
Same could be done for Mage_Uk to group packages specific to England.

Eventually it will become a bundle of packages such as UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL, Authorize.net.
