Is there a way to run Magento in Catalog (in-store only) mode?  Is it simply a matter of disabling the checkout and payment modules?

I also wanna know if there is a way to turn off / disable the checkout /shopping cart, just to run Magento as a catalogue only smile

I have try to turn off the following modules

- Mage_Checkout
- Mage_Paygate
- Mage_Payment
- Mage_Paypal
- Mage_Shipping
- Mage_Tax

The “My Cart” block was diable from the pages, but the “Add to Cart” button is still enable on the catalogue side, and also the link for “My Account”, “login”, “My Cart”, “My Wishlist”, and “Checkout” is still on where it was.

I think the only way to turn off / disable the checkout /shopping cart is to change the view of the pages from template?
Is that true? hmmm

Thanks

Hi,
I have managed to do this for one of my shops, firstly in system I set the Inventory to mannage stock and allow quantities below 0 for back orders.
I then simple marked all my products as out of stock in the catalogue area, they all show up but the add to cart does not.
I also changed the “out of stock” text to show “Phone for stock”

Hope that helps

@Shadow

We made one implementation of that type, look at http://www.yamanadelsur.com/

As Yoav said, most of the work is over the template.
