The only piece of doc i found on the subject is : http://www.magentocommerce.com/knowledge-base/entry/overview-how-multiple-websites-stores-work/ and it does not help much.

You should edit a store from configuration . In edit mode you’ll see a Delete button in the upper right corner.

In System > Configuration there is a button on the left: “Add Store”

The delete store option doesn’t seem to work. When I tried deleting the French and German stores a confirmation box poped up saying “Are you sure you want to do this?” I clicked “OK” but the store wasn’t deleted. I can disable it, but I can’t delete it. I attempted this from /admin/system_store/edit/store/german/

Apart from physically deleting the unwanted stores from the database, does anyone know how to delete them?

Right. I’ve seen this option but was afraid of using it. After your post i’ve tested this myself so you have completely right.

Hey folk,

it’s the same here. At the beginning I was in fear of being the idiot who can’t controll his system. Or may I am? However, I can’t delete the Shops too.

Hi guys,
I’ve installed Magento last version on a windows xp OS.
I’ve set up two stores on the same website, but there is definitively a problem with the second one.
Anytime I hit a link on that store I get a 404 error. Everything though seems to look good to me

Here are my parameters for the second store :

Store name : cadeaux pratiques
Store code : cadopratic
Status : enabled
Website : XXXX
Sort order 1

I’ve just altered the configuration in the Web panel this way :

Default web url : cms (no change here from the default configuration)
CMS Home page : Les cadeaux pratique (it’s a page I’ve create with the CMS manager)
Default no-route url : cms/index/noRoute
CMS No route Page : 404 Not found 1

I just then changed the base urls in the unsecure/secure boxes from “/praticado” to “/pratico/cadopratic” which is the path to my second store.

Has anybody managed to setup to different stores with Magento and can lend me a hand about this problem ?

Thank you

I’ve created a new directory with an index.php file in it, but no .htaccess.

What do I need to write in that .htacess ?

>>added two days later

Ok, sorry for my stupid question. All I had to do was to copy the .htaccess file from the root directory to the new created directory and it all worked fine !
Thank you Yoav. Long live Magento !

In order for you to get ur .htaccess don’t use ftp software.

Go to your hosting provider and access you .htaccess there.

hope this can help
