Hi

Is there some combination of catalog/category/view/ that will allow me to list all categories by a brand (or any particular custom attribute)?

I can do catalog/category/view/id/3/manufacturer/23/ which lists one particular categories and a brand, but I can’t figure out how to list all categories for that brand, and how to get the brand name in the html <title> tag.

Cheers.

If the root category is an anchor, you can view the root category and that specific manufacturer.  So something like catalog/category/view/id/[put your root categoryid here]/manufacturer/23/

Hi.  Thanks for the reply.

My default category is an anchor, but it simply returns a ‘page not found’ error...?

Sorry, about that.  It also has to be active.  If that doesn’t work, then i’m not sure how to do it.

Okay, this might be helpful since I am doing something similar to what you attempting. Here is my working URL format:

http://www.yourdomain.com/category-url-rewrite?manufacturer=132;

In my case, instance of using “Brand” I am using a custom attribute called Manufacturer in an anchored category called “Home Goods”. The 132 at the end is the ID of that attribute.

So a fully qualified URL with your information would be like this:

http://www.yourdomain.com/anchored-category-rewrite-key?brands=brandID

Hope that helps…

Can you get to the root category page w/o the brand filter?  If you can, add ?manufacturer=23 to the url.  It might be that the url rewrite doesnt work.  For example, on the magento demo store http://demo.magentocommerce.com/apparel/color/25 gives a 404, but http://demo.magentocommerce.com/apparel?color=25 gives you the correct products.

Hi.

Yeah, I can do that, it’s just that I can’t seem to do anything with the root.  I can list all manufacturers in a given category, that’s fine, but not for the root which is what I need.

Basically, Magento lacks a way to list by brand, which I think is pretty essential, and was looking for a workaround.

Thanks though.

=(
