Okay, please, pretty please! Do not tell me that they removed the Category Tree View on the Category Management page? I am going to have many categories with sub categories. This was one of the best features that i loved about Magento.
When setting up the store, it was easy for data entry people to visually see the category nesting and to drag and drop levels. I was running version 1.1.4 and then upgraded to 1.1.5 and now 1.1.6?

Now the Category Management page has some “links” looking thing on the left… Is there a way to activate the Treeview or switch back to the Treeview?

See attached image of how my category management page looks like. Perhaps I am missing some CSS Files, etc if the Tree View is still active.

This is my current category tree fully expanded… after clicking on the “Expand All” link. Notice that the subcategories are not even visually nested from their parent category.

If links are going to be used and not a treeview, they should at least nest like this:

Root Category
    Aromatics
       Incense
and Burners

Please see attached image for messed up current look.

Thanks for your quick response Saharian… but that did not help…

I cleaned all temporary files in IE And Firefox. I am still getting the same thing. HOWEVER, IE is throwing a javascript error and when I click on “Expand All” it actually leaves spaces between parent categories. Which is better than what Firefox is doing.

So I NOW do know that something is messed up on my site… I am going to check JS file permissions to see if that helps…

For the record.. I am running Firefox Version 2.0.0.16 and IE 6.0.2900

Upon digging into the page source I noticed that the <li> tags which are showing the categories use the classes x-tree-node and x-tree-node-ct but I do not see any of those classes in the included style sheets being pulled by the browser. I am verifying this using Firebug on Firefox.  I seem to be missing all the classes that begin with x-tree. Which style sheet is supposed to have these classes?

<ul style="" class="x-tree-node-ct">
<
li class="x-tree-node">

div class="x-tree-node-el folder active-category x-tree-node-leaf" id="extdd-29">

span class="x-tree-node-indent"><img class="x-tree-icon" src="http://www.willowtrail.com/js/spacer.gif"/>
                 <
img class="x-tree-elbow-line" src="http://www.willowtrail.com/js/spacer.gif"/>
        </
span>

        <
img class="x-tree-ec-icon x-tree-elbow" src="http://www.willowtrail.com/js/spacer.gif" id="ext-gen119"/>
        <
img unselectable="on" class="x-tree-node-icon" src="http://www.willowtrail.com/js/spacer.gif" id="ext-gen116"/>
        <

    <
ul style="" class="x-tree-node-ct"/>
</
li>
</

With the notion that I am missing some css files, I went into Magento Connect and reinstalled the Admin Interface with the following results:

Still no luck… I am going to attempt to re-install 1.1.6 upgrade. Perhaps this would be helpful.

okay… I have tracked down the problem to the fact that I am missing the following files in my js/extjs/resources/ folder… There should be a css folder there.. Which is missing.

Here are the files from the demo store which I seem to be missing:

http://demo-admin.magentocommerce.com/js/extjs/resources/css/ytheme-magento.css
http://demo-admin.magentocommerce.com/js/extjs/resources/css/ext-all.css

To avoid the problem of missing other files, I am going to reinstall Mage_All_Latest version 1.1.6. And see if this fixes it. If not, I can always manually add these files?

Question is.. Why are they missing in the first place?

grin JUMPS FOR JOY grin

Okay, after the second install, the files are all there now.. Why were these files missing in the first place? Still have no clue as the original upgrade showed a successful install. The Tree View works and displays well.

I hope this thread helps someone else who might be experiencing the same thing:  See attached image for the category navigation now…

Post Script: I have to say that the concept of having found that the installer said all went well but had missing directories and files is very unnerving as I am now left wondering what other files might be missing that I am not aware of?  shock

Good job smile

As of finding out which files might be missing I’d suggest downloading and unpacking full release zip and doing diff between installations.

Messed up permissions denying access to resources or missing resources. This branch menu is all done in javascript. Check /js/extjs for proper content, and then check for rw-rw-r rights on all files and rwxrwxr-w rights on the folders or as per what Magento/Varien recommends for proper permissions on these files.
