Ok this may be a dumb question but, i am trying to figure out how to install the modern Magento theme. I currently have Magento (1.1.2). I would appreciate any help that i can get. Also is there any possible way that installing modern Magento theme can cause a error with the website?

you install the modern theme using downloader, the extension code for which you will find on magento connect (i would post it here but then you wouldnt have to agree to the terms and conditions lol)

Once installed you need to go to system->Configuration->Design->Theme and set Templates, Skin (Images / CSS) and Layout to modern.

the only problem you might have is that the front end doesnt have any customisations you have made. But installing the modern theme cause any other errors.

@ lazzymonk
I believe i was able to install it correctly i got this in the upgrade console. Afterwards i went to system>config>design. and tried changing Current package name from default to modern. and received “Error while saving this configuration: package with this name does not exist and cannot be set.” Am i doing something wrong?

Where are you trying to install? At a remote server provided by some hosting provider?
Locally with Lamp? If so, which platform (windows, linux)?

If its the first, contact your hosting provider.
If its the second check your apache configuration for memory allocation

Its strange you got this error, since your memory limit is well above the one shown in your phpinfo()
memory_limit 64M

Your error log indicates that the memory you have available (33 mb) was exchausted, so its not anywhere near the 64Mb limit that you have.

You should really contact them and ask them to solve this. If you include the same error message as you posted here they should be able to fix it for you. Alternatively you may look in the forum for similar memory allocation problems while installing.

Let us know how it went
good luck

Thanks dimi.

I’m having problems with my host.
My magento doesn’t send email. I tried everything, even SMTP, but unsuccessfully.

If I got some positive answer I’ll let you know.
thanks again
