So my site is near on complete done all the styling and design no problems coming to do the merchant side of things then i hit a problem. I decided to use a paypal merchant as there alot of what looks like easy integration for it in magento. so i set my selp up a paypal account and opt for a paypal pro website payments pro merchant so i can do all the transactions on my site and not have to stray over to paypal its self ( as that looks crap in my opinion)

so i got that all set up and verified. I log into paypal and get my API credentials that being the:

API User Name:  info_api1.thyshop.com
API Password:  YU5THL89AXULX4YF
API Signature:  AltiqU5YgYMvMYP7xXlcsh0IEAMUMMS7BEte61xsiXgnHJtrPrLT62qp

(obviously not my exact details)

like so… FANTASTIC! Ok now i am looking to putting this information into my actual website so i log into my admin area in magento and go to:  System>Configuration>Paypal accounts
witch looks like this: http://www.juxdesigns.co.uk/magento/admin-1.jpg

inside Paypal accounts you get three options

1.Website Payments Pro UK (Express, Direct)
2.Website Payments Standard
3.Website Payments Pro (Express, Direct)

Ok so since i have got a website payments pro (express, Direct) paypal account (No3 on the above list) I am assuming this is where i put my information from paypal into:

I go and enter my API credentials like so

API User Name:  info_api1.thyshop.com
API Password:  YU5THL89AXULX4YF
API Signature:  AltiqU5YgYMvMYP7xXlcsh0IEAMUMMS7BEte61xsiXgnHJtrPrLT62qp

then it asks for a few others and i have put as follows:

Proxy Host : left blank
Proxy Port: left blank
Sandbox flag: NO
Debug flag: NO
Use Proxy: NO

Ok GREAT! so now i need to sort the payment methods so i go into

system>configuration>payment methods

which looks like http://www.juxdesigns.co.uk/magento/admin-2.jpg

If you scroll down on the payments methods you will find there are lots of options listed below:

1.Saved CC
2.Zero Subtotal Checkout
3.Check / Money order
4.Purchase order
5.Authorize.net
6.PayflowPro
7.Paypal Express (Website Payments Pro)
8.PayPal Direct (Website Payments Pro)
9.PayPal Standard (Website Payments Standard)
10. Paypal UK Express (Website Payments Pro UK)
11. PayPal UK Direct (Website Payments Pro UK)

yet again i am assuming that i need to go with number 11. paypal UK Direct (website Payments Pro UK) although at this point i am not 100% so i enable it and turn all the others to NO.

so it looks like this

Enabled: yes
Title: PaypalUK Direct (im also assuming that if i change them title it wont effect how it works?? but atm i have left it as it it)
New Order Status: Pending
Payment Action: Authorization
Credit Card Types: American Express
Visa
Master Card
Discover
Switch/Solo
Other (i have all highlighted, Oh another problem where is MAESTRO? a lot of people still use it)

Payment from applicable countries: all allowed countries
Sort Order: left blank

BRILLIANT so now it seems to me that everything is in its logical place! (ha) so i go into my page click on a item go to buy it go through all the process enter in all the details and i get this

http://www.juxdesigns.co.uk/magento/admin-3.jpg

I am so at a loss i guess i have just made a simple mistake somewhere but from my experience Pay Pal is partly to blame for this there site is so rubbishly laid out and confusing its unreal… if some could point me in the rite direction that would be grea

Oh and some one tell me why magento doesn’t all for maestro! i am aware you can write your own payment module and incorporate it but i don’t see the point if magento has done 99% of the work why don’t they just add the option of maestro card for fuck sake??  i mean who the hell has a discover credit card??

i hope this may help other people in the future so dont rite a stupid half assed link to somewhere else!

thanks

Craig

This needs to be addressed and if i get it solved i am willing to write a full in detail method on the wiki because it seems that i am not the only one with the integration problems

Do you have Paypal UK account ?
It’s not an appropriate combination in your first post.
You have either to choose No1 (in the first list) and No11 (in the second list) for UK account, or No3 and No8 accordingly.

thanks for the reply Michael

YES my paypal is a UK account.

Ok now lets say i go for the....

No3 -website payments pro (Express, Direct) & No8 -Paypal UK Direct

- the problem here is that there is no option for maestro/switch/solo?

& on the other hand

No1 -website payments pro UK (Express, Direct) & No11 Paypal UK Direct

- where do i get the information for
URL:
USER:
VENDOR:
PASSWORD:

?? i guess paypal somewhere but if you could point to exactly where that would be a help

i would prefer to use the 2nd one as switch and solo are commonly used

thanks again

Paypal UK and Paypal US have completely different ways of integration.

API Username, Password, Signature, etc credentials are valid only for Paypal US accounts.

Please contact Paypal support to make sure that you got right type of account (Paypal UK and no Paypal US).

your merchant account is in paypal.

1. log into paypal and at the the top it will say go to paypal manager click that link

2. and in there it will ask for

Partner:
Merchant Login:
User:
Password:

you will receive these details once your paypal pro has been verified (i am assuming yours is)

3. then you go to in magento admin

system>config>paypal accounts

then in the top box website Payments Pro UK (express,Direct)
you want to put as follows

URL: leave as it is (default)
USER: is your merchant from paypal
VENDOR: paypal UK
PASSWORD: same as the paypal merchant from above
DEBUG FLAG: YES

and hopefully now that part is set up.... you need to edit your payment methods and make sure the bottom one Paypal UK Direct (website Payments Pro UK) is enabled YES and the others all enabled NO

good luck
