Whoops, it looks like you have an invalid PHP version.

Magento supports PHP 5.2.0 or newer. Find out how to install Magento using PHP-CGI as a work-around.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

As it says above, iam getting the following error and ive read and i cant seem to understand how iam to do this work around. Could someone please explain it further, iam uploading to FTP and i didnt see any instructions on how to go about the install only the virtual machine which isnt me. I have an PHP 5 setup and ready to go, though am i to write in the php someplace the database information? Any help would be great thanks.

There will be a file in your public_html folder called .htaccess.

Open it up with a text editor and add:
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php

should be that simple

Good luck

Greetings,

Looks like there’s a similar problem here. I’m accessing Magento through my public_html directory, followed the installation instructions, and added
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php
to ~/public_html/.htaccess.

Here is the error I get:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error
or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administratoryou@example.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

The result of phpinfo() is attached to this post.

Thank you,

Have a nice day,

Philippe
