Filterable attributes on configurable products not showing under shopping options

Hi,

I’ve created a few basic configurable products but have noticed that the attributes don’t show up as being filterable under the shopping options in the category pages.

If i change the simple products that make the configurable product visible (set it to Catalog, Search) the attributes (colour for example) show up filterable as expected. But if i put the visibility back to Nowhere and just have the configurable product that they make up visible then no attributes show up as filterable (except catagory and price).

I set the attributes ‘Use In Layered Navigation’ to ‘Filterable (with results)’ so thats all set correctly but why are they not showing up for the configurable product? and is there a way to make them show?

Thanks in advance

No, but is has been reported to bug tracking system.  I would suggest you report it as well, because they don’t seam to think it a bug and just mark it resolved

How would you fix it?  I mean, how would you want it to work?
The configurable product doesn’t have the attribute value to show in the navigation until the customer chooses it. So what would you show in the navigation? All the possible values?  How does that help navigate?

Well it works on some but not on others, for instance it works with the manufacturer but nothing else like colour and size. I’m using 1.1.6 and would like to have this feature working fully.

Any odea when this will happen

I can’t get the manufacturer attribute to show up on the grid list, the product view or anywhere else for that matter on a configurable product.  Do I need to use a different call other than getAttributeText (’manufacturer’) ?  This works on simple products but not on configurable.  Anyone know the solution to this?  Thanks in advance.

I figured out the issue. You have to make sure that under the properties tab in the ‘’Manage Attributes” area of the Admin that the attribute is ‘Applied to’ the type of product you are creating.

I figured it out in as much as we had to delete and re-import all our products, when we did that the filters worked accordingly.

I am finding the same problem,

I am creating a configurable product, in this case a golf club called “TEST DRIVER” and one of the configurable options is loft (with the following setting: global, required value, apply to all product types, used to create configurable product, quick search, advanced search, filterable with results, used in search nav, visible on product view and used in product listings).

I have created 2 simple products (with viability nowhere) that are associated to this product and they both have a loft of “10.5 degree”

When i set the attributes to “filterable (with results)” no loft options are displayed on the shop by navigation (when it should show up as loft 10.5 degree (2)), when i change this to (no results) it shows all the loft attributes that are in the system (as its is supposed to), but again it show’s (0) next to the 10.5 degree option which should show (2).

I have tried refreshing the “Layered Navigation Indices” and the “All Cache”, deleting the attribute “loft” and recreating it and have had no luck with any of the things I have tried.

It appears that it is only reading the attributes of the configurable product itself and not the associated products (which I want the loft information to come from)?

When I set the product visibility to either Catalog, Search, or Catalog & Search, it shows up fine in the Shop by navigation, however it also duplicates the product and clutters up the store as it then lists the configurable product and all the associated simple products (which for a driver could be well over 100).

How do I get the simple products with visibility nowhere to show in the layered navigation for a category that the configurable product is in?

Can someone please help me to fix this problem or advise me where I am going wrong, I am pulling my hair out over this.

Many thanks in advance

P.S. I am using 1.3.0

These script are working fine in 1.3.1 to import configurable products and categories.

The configurable products are visibility “Catalog, Search”. The simple products “Nowhere”. There’s important the news-from-date row too.

Please notify me about bugs, tips, etc…

Hope it help…

I am not sure that I need to recreate the products as I have already create a number of them in the system. Can you please advise what exactly your code does?
