At this point the shopping cart cannot determine what product I am interested in so therefore should not show me anything but generalized filter options in the layered navigation. As it stands now, “Contrast Ratio” is listed in the layered navigation. However, that is confusing because I am looking for “RAM” and contrast ratio has nothing to do with RAM. Therefore, contrast ratio and every other category specific attribute should only be shown when in that category (in this case, “Monitors")
