How to fix the problem,

1. Hang while bulk import,
When i import the products, it hangs after importing 65 or 66 records.

Starting profile execution, please wait…
Warning: Please don’t close window during importing/exporting data
Starting Mage_Dataflow_Model_Convert_Parser_Csv :: parse
Found 1234 rows
Starting catalog/convert_adapter_product :: parse
Processed 5.4% 66/1234 records

Further how can i edit php.ini, what is the location of php.ini file.
As the the actual size of file is more than 2m, therefore i am uploading after reducing the size.

2. remove the footer of front page,
My frontpage has footer like
Help Us to Keep Magento Healthy - Report All Bugs (ver. 1.1.4)

How can i fix it.

3.bulk import categories witthout creating first,
Do i have to create the category first and then link in the csv file.
Can’t i just import the categories without creating first i.e just entering the category name in the csv file for bulk import.

4. How to make category theme same as frontpage
I have installed the modern theme for frontpage.
How can i change the feel and look of the category page.

Any help appreaciated.

thanks

Pardon me if my responses are as lazy as your questions:

1. Hang while bulk import,
When i import the products, it hangs after importing 65 or 66 records.

Split your spreadsheet into 2 or 3 spreadsheets and see if you can repeat the problem. Export all products and re-import, if it stops at 65 or 66 again, then the problem is with Magento, otherwise it is your spreadsheet.

2. remove the footer of front page,
My frontpage has footer like
Help Us to Keep Magento Healthy - Report All Bugs (ver. 1.1.4)

Footer is located in a few places. In admin, select “CMS>Static Blocks”, select “footer links” and modify that as needed. Another is located in “System>Configuration>Design.” Search for the one that mentions “keeping magento healthy” in the forums and you’ll find the answer.

3.bulk import categories witthout creating first,
Do i have to create the category first and then link in the csv file.
Can’t i just import the categories without creating first i.e just entering the category name in the csv file for bulk import.

NO

to add categories in bulk you need to:
1. create categories in admin
2. import products (enough to represent each category).
3. assign each category to 1 unique product.
4. export all products and determine which category goes where.
5. plug that into your csv and re-import.

This process should be improved in the near future, but is not among the more vital fixes they are working on. Photoshop didn’t have the “history” feature until v4 so who’s complaining?

4. How to make category theme same as frontpage
I have installed the modern theme for frontpage.
How can i change the feel and look of the category page.

-Catalog>Manage Categories
Select your category, select “Custom Design” tab
choose the layout that matches your home page (2 column, 3 column, etc).

You will then realize you need to learn how to use static blocks for your category pages to add content between the top and the products. You can also remove products from category and add them via the static blocks. I suggest you watch the screencast for Static Blocks, it’s one of the few screencasts still working.

Otherwise, I suggest using search before asking too many more questions, and the more time you take to ask a question, the better response you will get from those who know the answer.

hey - you know what - his questions may not be all that clear, but there’s no need to be an asshat about it.

You ever think maybe this post is the 18th time that a question has come up, or it’s umpteenth time something that should work out of the box, doesn’t.

Nah - everything works perfectly for you.

Next time, I would suggest just skipping answers like that because you look more foolish than someone just trying to get some help.
