Good afternoon

Is there a problem if I delete the content of

downloader/pearlib/download
before I create a backup?

Thanks a lot in advance,
kind regards,
Thomas

I am wondering this too.  I have 168 MB of content in this directory.  All the upgrades I have installed have subdirectories.  Is it required to leave everything or just the current version of each thing?

Thanks

I have deleted several older versions of updates and it appears to have no impact.  Before I delete current versions, or the .tgz files, I would like conformation that these files and directories are NOT used to determine available updates.

Is it OK to delete all contents after updates are applied?  Please provide insight.  Thanks

I’d recommend to delete content in the following folders:

downloader/pearlib/download
downloader
/pearlib/cache

Basically that content is not required anymore once installation or upgrade are completed.

In the /downloader/pearlib directory is a shell script called “clean”.
If you execute this, the following directories and files will be removed:

rm -rf cache/* data/* docs/* download/* temp/* tests/* php/.channels php/.depdb php/.depdblock php/.filemap php/.lock php/.registry

The problem is, that after a cleanup with this script, the installed package list in your Magento Connect Manager will be empty.
To avoid this, only cleanup therese directories:

rm -rf cache/* data/* docs/* download/* temp/* tests/*
