This is strange:
In 1.1.3 all of my simple products show “Availability: In stock.” regardless of what I set the “Quantity” and “Minimum Qty for Items’ Status to be In Stock” fields to. I have tried all logical combination of number here and refreshed Cache.
Here is the code in Simple.phtml related to the display of this message:
<?php $_product = $this->getProduct() ?>
<?php if($_product->isSaleable()): ?>
<p class="availability"><?php echo $this->__('Availability: In stock.') ?></p>
<?php else: ?>
<p class="availability"><?php echo $this->__('Availability: Out of stock.') ?></p>
<?php endif; ?>
<?php echo $this->getPriceHtml($_product) ?>
The only way I can get this message to change is by manually setting Stock Availability to Out of Stock. Shouldn’t this message be tied to the QTY and not to a manual toggle? Isn’t that the reason for the “Min Qty for Item’s Status to be out of Stock “ field?
I thought I understood inventory in Magento but now I am not so sure...........
