After setting up the Paypal’s Payflow Pro gateway correctly and making some test purchases, I noticed that Magento does not append any data to the Comment1 and Comment2 text fields that are displayed on Payflow Pro’s settlement reports.

These fields are used to store additional data about the transaction, such as the customer’s name and where the transaction was generated.  Other systems that I have used pass the order number (e.g. Comment1: Magento Order 000004) or the customer’s name or both.

Has anyone developed a way to pass this information to Paypal?  When processing 50-100 orders a day, this additional data allows much quicker access to information, than having to click into each transaction id.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I am very late to reply on this issue. Just responding if someone in future run into this issue:

Magento Enterprise version 1.9.1.1

I made following changes:

File: /app/code/core/Mage/Paypal/Model/Payflowpro.php
Function: protected function _buildPlaceRequest(Varien_Object $payment, $amount)

under billing section:
$request->setComment1($billing->getTelephone());

After Line $request->setCvv2($payment->getCcCid());
$request->setComment2($payment->getOrder()->getIncrementId());

I added Telephone and Order Number to Comment 1 and Comment 2 respectively. It worked well for me.

Hope this help someone!

If you want to put the Order ID into the Purchase Order field (ponum) you can do the following:

In function: protected function _buildPlaceRequest(Varien_Object $payment, $amount)

After line (about line 403 in version 1.10) :

$request->setCvv2($payment->getCcCid());

Add this:

$request->setPonum($payment->getOrder()->getIncrementId());

Then your PayPal will look like the attached image.

Is there a way to post to comments1 and comments2 without hacking the Magento Core programming? We store the name of the web site and the customer’s name in those two fields for our home grown shopping carts. This helps our accounting department allocate the money to the right web site and look up transactions easily if there are issues.

How can I send a Customer attribute (custom attribute) to Comment1 or Comment2?

Or a custom order attribute?
