I got as far as the main install screen where you put in database and url data but when after I submitted it and tried to access the website I get this below…
The page isn’t redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

http://wizardmagic.com/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/://:/install/

Any suggestions?

That looks like a mod_rewrite loop.

You should check your Apache httpd.conf file.

I also got this error, but then I found Magento was uploaded by FTP in Binary mode by default.
Then I uploaded the tar.gz file to the webserver and unpacked it there by FTP command. After that it all worked fine for me…
