Im just starting a site for a company running several hotels, Id love it if I could make this site on magento.
Are there any plans to create a plugin / module that would allow me to book rooms for certain dates. i.e. a product type that could be rented? This could also be used for any firm that rents products such as car hire / tool hire companies
You could have each hotel as a product, then you could set the amount of rooms in the hotel from within the product and it would only be allowed to be sold that many times over the same time period. The customer would then be able to choose their intended dates from a dropdown calendar in the front end and it would flag up if these dates were unavailable.
i am searching for a shopsystem wich can handle such booking features too…
i need a booking extension for products.
This products should get individual discounts when renting longer than x days/weeks etc
Also I need to define individual rental-rates… e.g. weekend-rate
Does someone know if there already is an existing extension for magento? (community / commercial)
I started developing an individual shop with this features, but it will never come up to this full-featured magento…
And i dont know anything about the code of magento, ive never seen it. I think i cant develope this just in time....
I have two uses for an booking/event registration feature. I *think* both of them would work well as an extension of downloadable products so that a ticket could be printed by the attendees and brought to the event. In the case of seat specific tickets, it would be necessary to put a few items on the printable ticket such as the seat location… “Row 38, Seat 26”.
1. I would like to be able to sell general admission registration tickets for an event.
2. We have a yearly event that packs a 1000 seat auditorium. I would like to sell tickets tied to a particular seat in the auditorium.
I’m guessing he means for renting...carpet cleaners or something similar.
I have to say I’m green with envy. I had posted a Features post in which I was asking for something that would allow me to schedule times that someone could come and work on a users PC (after purchasing say a “Virus clean-up” service) and I got only a few takers. This seems to be something similar. Using Magento to book a service or a time slot for which the business is paid.
Magento and indeed all the other commerce packages seem to be only geared towards products.
Would like to have the ability to select a ticket and then choose from a dropdown how many MEN and then how many LADIES; each having 2 different prices.
I’m so glad finally somebody jumps on it! I only wish this had happened some 6 months ago…
Anyway, here’s how I see things:
- ability to rent one or more of several items
- front-end calendar showing the availability
- drop-downs showing start and end dates
- time dependent price: 1 hour = $100, 2 hours=$125, 4 hours=$140
- price shown on the product page updates when start/end dates change (Ajax, jQuery, etc)
- show total and available number of items
- admin can set “dead-time” after item returned (for cleaning, etc)
- “no bookings” for certain periods like October to April or 00:00 - 08:00 and 17:00-23:59
- admin can set min and max booking time as well as granularity, like min 1 hour, max 12 hours, possible values 1, 2 4,8,12 hours
- discounts by coupons
- discounts by quantity
- discounts by gift certificates
- custom disclaimer for each service/product

Also, it needs to have a way for admin to EASILY input items from offline sales.
Eg. if you are running a service, you need to still be able to book appointments by phone.
Integration with any existing scheduling software would be awesome.
Hi, has there been any movement on this project? I have several customers lined up to use such a module for Magento. If the product is stable/robust enough, I will be using it consistently for my clients.
