I have been trying to install Magento all day without any success. I have tried using the downloader & the full install with the same results for both.

I get the Magento Installation Wizard page just fine. I click the “Start the download process” button & it seems to work fine & then it seems to stop altogether after it gets this far

I don’t get any errors it just stops. I am using Firefox version 2 & also get the same results with IE.

It’s a GoDaddy shared hosting Deluxe account. php 5 MySQL 5.0 database.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

When I run the magento-check.php file. It says the server meets all the requirements except it says

“You need MySQL 4.1.20 (or greater)”

But the database I created is 5.0

Could this be a problem?

Somehow I posted this in the Programming Questions forum instead of the Installation Problems forum.

Could a moderator please move it? Sorry about the error!

I just created a database on a different GoDaddy shared hosting account that meets the minimum requirements & loaded the database & the media folder files & uploaded the downloader installer & the same thing happens. It hangs at nearly the same spot. :(

Can anyone tell me what’s wrong? I would really like to try this software out.

Thanks.

Well I guess, that Magento is constantly running into the script runtime limit. On most shared hosters I came across so far, scripts are only allowed to run for 90 seconds and then killed.

I strongly believe, that this is the problem, which kills my magento installation almost everytime I try to update the Core via MagentoConnect.

Ever find a solution? I’m on GoDaddy shared and am getting the same problem.

I got Magento installed on the GoDaddy server. I can’t remember what I did to get it to install maybe it was increasing the memory limit in the .htaccess file?

# php_value memory_limit 64M
php_value memory_limit 128M
php_value max_execution_time 18000

Any way. I got the installation running & did some testing but it is way too slow on the GoDaddy server so I am moving it to another hosting company.

Same problem for me, the installation hangs at about that point. I presume it is GoDaddy. (I had ColdFusion problems there, too.)

Has anyone tried hosting with Nexcess.net? They offer Magento already installed on shared hosting. At $6.95 a month, it isn’t much more than GoDaddy. I wish I didn’t have to leave GoDaddy, as I have several accounts there, but I really want to use Magento.

Any experience with this?

Thanks.
Susan

Could it be the shared servers memory limit, I’ve found mine hangs too on a 1and1 shared hosting account.  The phpinfo.php says
memory_limit 40M
