Well then you either have to either re-work the Magento code, or get a faster web host. Because we can get that 10 seconds down to about a second.

And I’d hate to be spamming,-_-, but if you insist, I’ll be willing to set you up for a test drive on our platform, that way you can see that Magento actually runs quite fast, (0.75 - 1.5 seconds, which is the fastest numbers you can get out of Magento based on our research). So feel free to leave me a PM, I want you to experience the difference in speed.

Ok I got my new server running :

Intel Xeon 3210 2.1 GHz Quad Core Processor
174 GB 15K SAS HDD
4GB RAM

and ...

Magento is working very well. Ukdazza I bet you are on shared hosting plan from nublue ? My last testing on $59 dedicated server was really good. Its not as bad as I thought.

How much should I expect to be paying for a dedicated server then? Should the difference be noticable?....I imagine I am on shared...makes sense what with the price and the slow speed. Should I look to change?

From what you said I understand you are the company and you have a clients on you website so you earning a money on it ... right ? Best Hosting Solutions I found are theplanet.com and 1paket.com you need to look around 100-200 USD so about £100 pm. SimpleHELIX no offense but you guys are shared environment so I dont belive I will get the same speed as on my new box…

Stopprocent,

Well, I’d have to disagree with you on that.
Because, we can get you running even faster than dedicated servers around $700+/month range.

I don’t know what you are using to show the speed of the add cart but for me and for anyone for that matter, it’s not 0.2 seconds.
With a tool with ySlow the FF extension timer, the best I got was like 1-1.5seconds.

What are you using to show the execution time?
And also what server specs and which server plan from theplanet do you have?

Sorry if im pushing a bit ... its only that if you can run it as fast as dedicated server I might use you for some clients with lower budget

Can you also tell me what is there any difference in performance between standard and max?

We use SimpleHelix.  After 1.1.1 crashed us, they came to the rescue.  Our site is loaded with products (our restore file is over 2gigs) and our site is speedy.

I really can’t talk about our plans here. The mods here are fairly strict about their policies on “no self-promotion”.
But what I can tell you is that Magentify is on the st plan.
