Hello,

The URL I’m listing below is a test site only—my client is going to review the site and I expect them to sign-off in the next 2 weeks.  Generally, the core layout is the same, but I’ve customized graphics and some of the sidebar work based on what my client wanted to see.

I personally would like to thank the Magento Team for creating such a great e-commerce product!  Additionally, the folks on the forums who have dug the trenches for all to read and learn from—you guys are the best—I’ve learned alot the past few weeks.

If you have any questions or comments, I’d appreciate hearing from you.

Regards,
Scott Brown

Hi Scott,

The homepage shows a gaping empty hole on FF2. I see 3 featured products on the left, nothing in the middle and then the right column. Is there supposed to be something in the middle? It’s a bit empty like this.

The search button seems to be a transparent gif but the corners are black, not white.

Hi JT,

Thanks for your review.  The big white space is there for more “featured products”.  I only enabled three products on the test site—but I fully expect the client to have more than three products.  One thing I could consider, based on your feedback, is to move to a “list view” instead of the “grid view” on the home page only.  I’ll play with that in my development environment.

Appreciate the review and comments/suggestions!

Regards,
Scott

BTW—For everyone:

For some reason my /etc/local.xml file was overwritten (not by me), I lost my DB connection.  I’m not sure how this happened—but nevertheless I’ve fixed it.  I’ve also noticed my site has slowed down considerably.  My guess is that someone at GoDaddy change something on the shared server I’m on.

After reading other’s experiences about slowness, I decided to try another host.  I must say that within 2 hours I’ve been able to migrate/copy my Magento installation from GoDaddy to Crucial Web Hosting, and my site is SO MUCH FASTER!

Check it out:

Original Site: http://www.sixbrowns-dynamics.com/dc/index.php

Crucial Hosted Site: http://208.43.169.105/dc/index.php

In a few days I’ll change my DNS settings so the www address will resolved to my dedicated IP on Crucial Web Hosting.

Regards,
Scott
