I was wondering if there is a means in place currently that allows you (upon creating a product) for it’s SKU to be an auto_incrementing field?  If so, where is it - if not, can someone point me down a path to implement this?

Basically I have a few hundred SKU’s from a retailer, I am not allowed to use their SKU’s on my site, I must create my own.  I can’t even do something as simple as padding them with 0’s, they want the to be indistinguishable.

Any thoughts?

I would love to know too.. some sort of “suggestion” based on last entered SKU.
