I want to ask about it.
If we list items it only shows each 1 main image.
It’s important if we want customer see an item from different angle

You can show as many images as you’d like.

Take a look at this example from the demo store:

The main images has zooming functionality but there are 2 other angles that are showing the same product under it that would open in a pop up window.

Can it be changed so that clicking on the 2nd picture just replaces the picture in the box instead of a popup?

If you want an additional image to appear in the main image section you will need to customize the code on that page on your own.

You could also concider adding lightbox to view them instead of a popup.

Count my vote for Lightbox!

It’s pretty easy to integrate, and the results are “fantastic” for 99% of cases.

Two minor things to keep an eye out for:

1.) Don’t assume that just because Magento gives you options for “Thumbnail”, “Main Image”, etc, that this is the limit. After setting up Lightbox, just keep adding images - LB will “pick them up” and add them to rotation. I have a product with 16 images, and they work fine.

2.) If you have trouble finding “page/html/head.phtml” - its location is NOT specified in the instructions, it’s actually sitting here (if Magento is installed as root):

app/design/adminhtml/default/default/template/page/head.phtml

-------------------------

P.S. If you’re not a fan of LightBox, there are other “gallery” scripts out there (FrogJS, etc.). You’ll need some PHP knowledge to integrate them, though!

Hope this helps!

Ok this is clear, but what if you used the small and main images for you store display, without wanting to add them as thumbnail.

BUT you want to place lets say 4 more images, which are visible as one in the zoom and other 3 as thumbnails…
