hey,

i think its called screenscraping.
I havent seen any discussion about it here, but from what ive read you need to read the dom tags of the html page. Then using a parser, extract out the data you want to grab from the page, dumping it to a file.
People in the past have used regular expressions to interpret the html.
You could extract the data and i suppose parse it into magento via API directly without having to create a import (csv file)

All theorectical stuff though

Yeap. It is called screen scraping.

I programmed an app, to get 18000 products infos and images. Results saved in a csv file. Uploaded the images. Imported the products. And it worked like a charmed.

For other trying this one. It is VERY difficult to do the screen scraping and you surely have to know how to do the programming.

It took me
8 hours to program.
2 hours for testing.
5 hours for downloading 18000 products infos and images
5 mins for uploading images smile
24 hours for importing the cvs file. You can do better -> Magento Team.
