Show category dependant attributes in layered navigation

Hello.

I need to show only certain attributes of products in layered navigation, based on the category user is in.

I figured best way is to add a filter in the filter.phtml based on a new database table consisting in categories and allowed attributes....

Has anyone been working on something like this?

Any suggestion?

Thank you
Mattia

You don’t need to edit phtml to do this.
Go to the backend, Catalog>atrribute>Manage Attribute
Edit the attribute that you don’t what to see in you layered navigation and change “Use in layered navigation” to no

I wish it was that easy.... but I need it to show depending on the category user is in.

For example I need to have attribute A of product AAA to show in category B but not in category C, assuming the product is in both and both have layered navigation....

Does it make any sense?

I have run into the same issue as matponta. Does anyone have a suggestion of how this can be achieved? Having products with filterable attributes in multiple categories currently makes browsing quite a mess.

A great addition would be the option to select which filterable attributes should be used on a category basis. This could be based on the available attributes attached to the products in the category. However, if someone has a hack to get this done I would appreciate any info.

Cheers

Hello,

this would be a great feature. Any solution or workaround for this?
