I am about to dive into creating a theme for Magento. I want to know if others are using Dreamweaver for managing their theme development, or if there are better choices?

Dreamweaver works fine...I use it at work. I have to say that the current version is EXTREMELY bloated, slow and down right annoying sometimes. It’s capable, I suppose, and has alot of other stuff that’s not used if you’re just theming in magento. If you’ve got $400 buck to spend, it’ll get the job done.

At home, I use Aptana Studio. It’s lightweight, easy-to-use and has alot of neat plug-ins if you ever need to do work beyond theming Magento. If you’re just looking at creating a theme for Magento, don’t have $400 bucks, I’d definitely give this one a try before committing to Adobe.  Oh yeah, it’s free.

Just my thoughts. I’m sure others have opinions as to their favorite as well.

Dan

@wsj3:  I would suggest EditPlus to you, it’s easy to use it doesn’t hog your RAM and best of all, it’s free.

You can check it here http://www.editplus.com/

Enjoy!
