I feel as though I am blind, but I do not see an option for download links, media, or anything for a product. I was under the assumption that this release included virtual products with support of downloadable products. Correct me if I am wrong??

This release (1.1.1) does not include Downloadable Products. This feature will be available very soon.

to clarify, downloadable products and virtual products are 2 different things. virtual just means you don’t have to ship them anything. downloadable products were not slated for inclusion in the most recent release.

When, oh when, oh when???

I’m nearing a deadline where I have to pull the trigger on deciding between Magento and another solution for our store.  I so badly want to use Magento, but I can’t do it without Downloadable Products.  The other solution passed that test with flying colors.

I also have a deadline on October 1. Will magento have the ability to sell downloadable products by than? When are you planing to release that feature? Do you have any approximate timeline?

I too have been awaiting a downloadable products function since early this year when it was on the roadmap.  It was then taken off of the roadmap and eventually placed back on it.  So I would absolutely love to have a feature like this on an otherwise perfect piece of software.

From what I understand, version 1.2 will have this feature.

Thanks Magento for all your hard work.  And PLEASE let us know the approximate date this great feature will be added.

Version 1.1.5 is due by the end of the month, but it’s mostly just bug fixes… Don’t hold your breath on version 1.2 ... You’ll turn blue, suffocate then die. It wouldn’t be too pretty.
