Hi All

I need to transfer or would like to be able to export my product categories from one install to another.

Does anyone know of a way to do this?  can this be done via the Magento admin panel or perhaps via phpMyadmin?

The reason I need to export these is because I am having problems with the current installation and feel it would be better to simply get a fresh install going.  The current install is for some reason displaying 404 error on all “Category” pages.

Any help would be appreciated

Can anyone shed any light on this matter? Can I export tables form my previous magento database ( a magento 1.0 instal to a magento 1.1.2 install?)

Yes, I would also like to know if one can export categories and even individual or all products easily, withouth MySQL queries, but straight from the admin?
How about all admin settings as well?

I think this is a valid question that deserves a response from Magento. At least let us know what tables we have to export. many developers are putting a lot of time and faith in this products and basic documentation, suggestions and questions are being completely ignored.

Yes - this is a valuable feature (if it were implemented) and I would love to know of any way to do this.

This is something simple that the core team can do. why do we have export products but we dont have export categories. it doesnt make any sense.

Absolutely necessary, I also would request that feature. Almost inbelievable that it isn’t available

I would really like to be able to export categories and websites (with all stores).

This would save me a tremendous amount of time. Just doing system restores isn’t the way to go (that killed me the other day in fact). And I’m afraid that if I try to do it via MySQL, I’m going to hurt myself badly.

But Magento can’t make the system perfectly simple for everyone or they wouldn’t have a reason to consult for their customer base.

I don’t think staff even reads half these threads.

This is really disappointing. The Magento web site says all To Do questions are answered in this fourm, linked from their Contact Us page.

For a question of this importance to be totally ignored for all this time does not build confidence.
