I’ve got version 0.7.14800 and I can’t get Paypal direct to show up in the payment options. I enabled both Paypal Express and Direct in the configuration. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

I’m not sure but i think in previous release there still was a bug with payment methods sort order.

Make sure you have sort orders set for both with unique values

I assume you are talking about Configuration > Payment Methods.
Did you configure the Paypal settings in Configuration > Paypal?

I don’t understand how we are meant to setup PayPal Standard??

in Systems / PayPal Accounts you are presented with:

Business Name
Business Account
Paypal Logo Image URL (150x150)
Sandbox Flag
Debug Flag

How do any of these link to your PayPal account? Surely there needs to be an ‘Email Address’ field?!?

I assume I am wrong and the answer is glaring me in the face, but I don’t see it! Anyone?.....

Business name == if you use transaction type “aggregate order” and you want to show your business name in the item place.
Business account == Paypal account. You need to enter you paypal Email address in this field
Paypal logo image url == If you want to override the paypal image which is located at top left corner for the paypal page
Sandbox Flag == the paypal account is a test account or not.
Debug Flag == this flag is for a developer, who wants to debug what information Magento send to paypal and what information we receive from paypal. The information is saved in database.

thats what i assumed. however, it isnt worded very well. it should say “PayPal email” or similar.

But that is how I have set it up. Business name and paypal address and it doesnt work.

It gets to the PayPal screen and hasn’t picked up the price of the item and has put our company name in the item name field.

Any ideas why??

*AND the “go back to “MYSITE” link doesn’t work. It just reloads the paypal screen again.

What is authorize vs sale in Paypal standard? I don’t quite understand it.

I think this means that when a customer pays you can either have that as a completed sale (sale) or as a “needs you to authorize it” sale, meaning you need to accept the payment in paypal (authorize)...thats just an idea...i don’t actually know.

ps. I am still waiting for some helpful person to answer my question [above]....pleeeeeeease!

I understand that much but am confused as to how someone can authorize a payment/complete the sale in Paypal??

sometimes when you get payments in paypal it requires you to click “accept” as opposed to it being an automatically completed transaction. In your paypal account, on the “recent activity” list on the first page (where the most recent transactions are shown) there would be two buttons “accept” or “decline” that appeared next to the payment amount. We would test it and see but we cant get the PayPal thing to work properly...is there an update or something we can download for magento where they might have fixed some bugs?

Can we set the Paypal logo image url for paypal express? If we have multiple websites then it would be nice to put the logo for the store at the top of the paypal page.

does anybody know how I can add a fee for paypal payments to an order?

I think you can set paypal to charge the buyer the fee as apposed to you paying the fee. So, if you state that “all paypal payments incur a x% fee” then set your paypal settings to charge the buyer the fee as apposed to pay it yourself. You use to be able to do this, not sure if you still can as I cant find it in any of the settings and the help menu is shocking.
