I just installed Fooman’s extension Google Analytics Plus
then I went to my google analytics account to set up the Goal and the funnel, according to Fooman’s instructions.

Can anyone confirm if it is correct what I’ve done ?
If yes, maybe it’s a clearer help for anyone wanting to set it up for their site as well.

hi erenaud, Thanks for sharing your experience. The set up looks correct.

FYI , currently there seems to be an issue where exits are not properly displayed in the funnel visualisation even though the pageviews are counted correctly in the top content report. See also this thread.

If anyone has any ideas on how to make Google Analytics behave I am keen to hear it.

Does this extension allow Magento to actually track goals? Has anyone gotten Google Analytics to successfully track goals? I’ve entered all kinds of goals and funnels but none of them get tracked....even a simple goal such as ‘Visit Any Website Page’ with a URL of “/” doesn’t work.

hi mendrel, I can definitely track goals. Have a look at your top content report in Google Analytics to see what data actually arrives. Then you can built your goal/funnels using this information.

good luck

Nope, I have used the name of the pages as they appear in ‘Top Content’ and the goals never track. Any other suggestions or can you post your goal setup so I can make sure I’m not doing anything different?

I haven’t looked into this in detail, but it seems that there is no such page as newsletter signup success or customer account created. You could adapt the technique posted here: http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer;=55527
Once you have these links tracking you could set up goals against those “virtual” pages.

One other option worth looking into are events:

Is there anyway to setup a goal to capture PayPal Express and Google Checkout orders?

Thanks!

Hi Griff1324, Paypal and Google Checkout customers should return to your site on the onepage checkout success page once they have completed payment. So if you have your goal set up as in the first post these are already included.

If you want to track them separately you would need to create new order success pages for each one of them and then override the behaviour of the modules to direct back to the new pages. Once you have it successfully set up that these new pages show up in Google Analytics you can create goals for them.

Good luck

I tried using the URL path for website optimizer to track successful orders, but it does not work. Is this because it is https?

thejosh https or normal http should not matter. I would suggest trying to set up Google Analytics first and confirm that goals and pages are tracked successfully before moving onto website optimizer.

good luck
