Existing Store DB—But re-loaded all the PHP files—How do I re-connect them?

Long story short, I broke my old Magento installation by doing the beta upgrade… my database was still in tact.

I just deleted all my magento files, and re-uploaded all the files fresh.

My database is still sitting on the server.

Whenever I run Magento, it keeps trying to run the “installation” script since all the files are brand new.

How do I bypass the installation and connect it with the existing database. Is there a config.php file somewhere that I need to edit? Please advise.

you could make encrypted backup of app/etc/local.xml

basically installed means app/etc/local.xml exists, you can copy from local.xml.template and fill out the placeholders. make sure to fill out the encryption key and install date too.
