Hi guys,

I’m with a strange problem. I just can’t get my theme to show in the front-end.
Here is what i’ve done to this point:

- uploaded the theme files to
app/design/frontend/(my_interface_name)/(my_theme_name)/
skin/frontend/(my_interface_name)/(my_theme_name)/

- then in the admin I navigated to system->Cache management and turned off all the caching properties.

- then I went to system->Configuration and then I selected the website I wanted to change the design. Then in the left column I clicked on the design tab.

- Under Current package name I changed the value to my_interface_name.

- Under Default I changed the value to my_theme_name. And saved!

But I’m not seeing anything happening in the frontend.
Am I missing something here or what??

Thanks in advanced,

Joshua

Well that’s exactly how I would do it too, so not sure why that didn’t work. What version of Magento are you running? And have you tried manually deleting the var/cache directory after updating the interface/theme name?

At the moment I’m using version 1.0.19870 and no I have tried that out yet. Can you tell me where I can find the cache directory?

disable cache from admin -> system -> cache management to see the changes while developing themes. ( ref: design guide)

you are also trying to replace interface.
do not change the interface, keeping it as default, then copy your new theme under that directory, next to default theme. and from admin panel dont change the package name,
only change theme name to your new theme. then it will probably done. but you may also update the cms pages, according to your new theme. you should go to cms -> manage pages and select your page template and theme.( if necessary ).

app/design/frontend/(my_interface_name)/(my_theme_name)/
skin/frontend/(my_interface_name)/(my_theme_name)/

dont do like above, just copy your theme(my_theme_name) under default interface
