Any Magento Developer Documentation at All?

Hi all, does anyone know whether there is any documentation at all?
I need to implement some new shipping and payment gateway modules.

In the meantime, in order to reverse engineer the system (and learn from it), I
am setting up a development environment with Zend.

As such, I would also like to know whether there is a recipe to move the
DB and files from my development environment to a production server.

I.e. what config files have to change, etc?

Appreciate any help!

Trel,

Thanks Adi ! Does Magento have plans to issue a more comprehensive developer book
explaining the architecture? I’m getting by with the Forums, User Guide, etc.  but would certainly be
interested in getting a more in-depth understanding the system.  Thank you!

It takes two to tango, so don’t blame Magento right away if things go tits-up!

A. Get Zend Server - Community Edition is free and will make things a lot easier on you now and when deploying to production

I am aware of the book but reading through the summary it seems that much of it is
what’s already available in the user guide, some of the how to’s, etc.. nothing that
clearly gets into the nitty gritty. I really want to understand the architecture as quickly
as possible. SO far so good, as I can hack around to find what I need, but it’s a time
consuming process..

I just bought the Guide to E-Commerce Programming with Magento.  Overall I am happy with the book.  It’s definitely not a refined piece of literature but it does cover some good information on the the internal workings of Magento.  Probably nothing earth shattering for a seasoned PHP guru but for us PERL guys, it was a good read.  smile I’d recommend it as a starting point.

Man those books are so terrible.  They are written poorly.  I’ve bought their kind twice.
