It should be the one in your Magento’s root directory (not the domain root directory).

I see a bandwidth limit exceeded error(?)

Anyhow, could you ask your host what type of PHP environment they run on?

There are couple like mod_php, cgi/fastcgi/suPHP, and depending on the choice, there are different ways to go about making it work.

And Imho, with a proper configuration of fastcgi+suPHP, this is perhaps the best and most recommended php environment for magento. Because with this, you no longer need to deal with the dreaded chmodding’s or any of that. It should just work right out of the box. And much more secure too, which really was the whole point of suPHP in the firstplace.

Have you tried changing the permissions? As I said you should try 755 for all directories and 644 for all files. smile

@griefex: Its 755, not 775. This may be where the problem lies, as some host disabled “nobody”.

Directories/Folders: 755
Files: 644

when i checked previously in this post i think they told me that on some hosts it can be 775 instead of 755. I will check again. If you have any other ideas pls tell me. I have attached the .htaccess file a while ago so someone could see some settings i need to arrange there. Can anyone check for me in the meant time?

@ griefex: If that is the case I will suggest you to get help from your host or just delete and re-upload the files.
