I’ve tried making a coupon code for free shipping on orders over $50 and being shipped inside the US.  I cant seem to get it working.  Here is what I’ve done:

- status “active”
- all groups
- code: “freeshipping”
- uses: 999

conditions:

- subtotal greater than 50
- shipping country is united states

actions:

- discount amount: 0
- Free shipping: for shipment with matching items

entering this coupon code does not give free shipping

hi,

I have the same problem with Free Shipping in the Shopping Cart Price Rules.

I tried setting up a very simple rule, without a coupon, and only one Condition, which is the shipping country.

For Action, I then set:

Discount Amount = 0.
Free Shipping = For shipment with matching items.

I don’t get free shipping. The Table Rates apply.

Did I miss anything? Appreciate if anyone could help.

Thank you very much.

hi,
I found this thread http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread/9859/ that seems to answer the Free Shipping problem.

Take note of the last post in the thread. Hope it helps.

Since this post comes up at the top of Google search results when searching for Magento Free Shipping Over Price, here’s the solution:

1. From the admin page go to System > Configuration
2. Under “Sales” on the left, select “Shipping Methods”
3. Select the Free Shipping Tab to open it
4. Set “Enabled” to “Yes”
5. Set “Minimum Order Amount” to the subtotal that must be reached before the “Free Shipping” option is available
6. Click “Save Config” in the upper right.

That’s it. No “Shopping Cart Price Rules” tinkering necessary (and you have complete control over HOW the item ships, since it *is* free, after all).

What if I only want to give free shipping to groups to whom I give a special code (as a way of tracking where customers are coming from)? I have entered a shopping cart price rule that seems like it should do this and it does not. I don’t want anyone who places X amount in cart to get free shipping; I only want people who place X amount in cart AND writes “specialcode” in the coupon box (so I can know exactly where they came from).

Here’s a way without having the customer make a “choice” between $0 shipping and the regular priced shipping per the method above. Instead, create a shopping cart rule that automatically changes the shipping charge to $0 when the subtotal is a certain amount.

Hi,

I have a different question. I have on my frontpage header the text “Free shipping on orders over 99EUR” I use the currency converter (EUR, USD and GBP) and would like to insert the code in header.phtml so that the currency converter automatically calculates the 99 eur into the corresponding currency.

Was thinking of the following:

<class="side-logo-promo" >FREE SHIPPING FROM <!--Get Store Configuration Setting--><?php echo Mage::getStoreConfig("carriers/freeshipping/free_shipping_subtotal");
/*Get Currency Symbol*/
echo Mage::app()->getLocale()->currency(Mage::app()->getStore()->getCurrentCurrencyCode())->getSymbol();
//Print Amount Proper Currency (e.g. $102.36) */
echo Mage::helper('core')->currency($subtotaltruetrue?>
</p>

but I get an error: Undefined variable: subtotal in /home….header.phtml

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Will translate into spanish or german for your help.smile
Thanks a lot!

Hi,
I am new on magento
I am using magento 1.5 and free-shipping option
is there a way to set the delivery date to +1 day
that means if a client buy today it can only select a date from tomorow.

thank you in advance for the answer.

Thanks in advance.

Configuration->Shipping methods->Enable Free shipping and set 50 in the minimum order amount.
Exactly what Veraxus posted above.

In general, I prefer WebShopApps Matrix Rates (free) which gives me more options compared to table rates. By using Matrix rates I can select free shipping in combination with a coupon code.

This fixed my free shipping coupon woes:

Settings > Configure > Shipping Methods > *select shipping method* > make sure Free Method dropdown contains a value other than “None”

This can be easily done via Shipping method configuration section:
System > Configuration > Sales > Shipping Methods > Free Shipping > Just enable it and put min order amount for free shipping.

Alternatively, if you love module development then you can simply override the following method:

Mage_Shipping_Model_Shipping::collectCarrierRates()
CODE:
protected function _checkCarrierAvailability($carrierCode$request null)
{
    $freeThresholdAmount
50;

$quote        Mage::getSingleton('checkout/session')->getQuote();

$grandTotal Mage::app()->getStore()->roundPrice($quote->getGrandTotal());
    if(
$grandTotal $freeThresholdAmount){

if($carrierCode != 'freeshipping')//will hide rest shipping methods

return false;

}
    }

return true;
}
