Custom Module and Admin question

I’ve read all the information about creating modules and I’ve torn apart the newsletter module to add functionality for it.  But how do you add admin functionality to a module if you plan to have it stored in your own ‘Xyzcorp’ folder under /app/code/local/?

For instance, all the newsletter admin functionality is stored under the default /app/code/core/Mage/Adminhtml folder.  Would you create a /app/code/local/Xyzcorp/Adminhtml folder?

Hi JSimpson,

No, you don’t need to create an Adminhtml folder inside yours, but you have to create the same folder structure inside your module’s folder regarding the classes you’ll need to customize. Take a look at this example: http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/how_to_customize_backend_template_f.e._sales_order_information

In this example a block is overloaded, and the customizations are made on your module’s classes. In case you need to overload a model, just change the <blocks> tag for <models>. For overloading controllers, take a look at http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/how_to_overload_a_controller.

Cheers,
