I’m building a shop that will be primarily selling bathroom and kitchen fans.
These products, naturally, comes in different model, sizes and so on. Most of them are available in like 3-9 different types (one with manual on/off switch, one with a movement sensor, one with overrun timer, one with overrun timer and movement sensor and so forth… very, VERY exciting stuff I tell you). All the types of a model have the same physical dimensions, but other specs. such as noise level, power consumption and a few others tend to differ.
I figure that I want the customer to be able to be able to pick a certain model and then which type, so I’ve been experimenting with configurable products a bit, but it doesn’t quite do the trick, since I’m only shown the “Additional Information” for the main product (the configurable product itself) and not for the sub types.
If I make each type of every model into a separate product, I will get the features I want, but it won’t be as neatly categorized and I’m afraid that the whole shop will drown in similar looking products, with only minor differences.
Any bright ideas?
