When sending out an update on a clients order, an email is sent out. I made a new template for the email, but I can’t find the area where I can make the system use this template instead of the default.

Try this:

System>>Configuration

On the left-hand side, you have:

Sales>>Sales Emails

See if that works for you.

Thats where I changed all the other ones, but I can’t seem to find one for an Order Update.

Got the same exact problem. Can’t find where “Update Order” e-mail is :(

From the Admin - Sales - Order - Order Overview Screen it is possible to send a Comment directly to the customer.

Where can I find the template that is used for this?

It is pretty much the same as the Order update e-mail template found under

System-> Transaction e-mail-> ‘Option 4 Order Update’

but still not the same.

It would be nice if all the default templates are availble directly from the admin, for easy editing.
