in addition it would be very nice if the softare reconized that an item was removed from an order after the sale because it was out of stock or customer changed thier mind and then updated quickbooks with the changes.

End user here, interested in the outcome of this project.  I would simply like to be able to import orders from Magento into quickbooks with the push of a button. No longer interested in all this manual data entry we have to do......

I’m new to Magento and to this community and am in the process of building two stores using Magento, so I hope you’ll forgive my ignorance when asking these questions…

If I understand correctly, Varien’s business history is working with retail clients and building ecommerce platforms and that’s where Magento was born.

Why in the world would they not have this quickbooks bridge already figured out??? How do Varien’s clients deal with quickbooks integration now?

Focusing on the NOW and not the FUTURE, if indeed a quickbooks extension is not currently available:

1) What’s the work-flow now for working with Magento and quickbooks, specifically the “premium retail edition” of quickbooks?
2) How do maximize workflow with what IS available today?
3) Does Magento allow the export of sales, product and customer data from Magento that can be imported into quickboooks?

I’ve looked over most of the Quickbooks Sync group info, and it seems to have stalled. Are we waiting on something from Magneto core? Is there anything new?

I sent a PM to Scott 5 days ago to offer my assistance and I haven’t had a reply. As far as I can tell, this project is either being ignored, or PM notifications are hopelessly broken.

I had selected Magento as the best platform for a new e-commerce site, but the client uses QB and QB Merchant Services, so unless I can make some form of synchronization work, I’m going to have to drop Magento and go with some nasty hosted service like Ebay’s ProStores. Is the integration effort still ongoing? Has anyone succeeded in getting QB and Magento to talk?

some French dudes took OsCommerce and totally streamlined it.. no more table-based layouts .. a little has changed but ive installed a couple traditional OsCommerce modules without much modification - namely the Quickbooks EZ Sync Configuration module ... the downside is that a bunch of the database is setup in French and requires translation ... the upside to the downside, though, is that most of the database table data is the same as OsCommerce, so if you also install the original you can then copy/paste the English table data over French crap.

thats my current project anyway - and prolly will be my future choice until this open-source QB sync for Magento gets up and running.
