I can only second sherrie. I love the way you have done the new download page with previous versions and how you have gathered resources for to help to install Magento.
Would be nice if you guys could actually put a working URL up for people that use SSH to download. As it stands now, you can’t download using the link on the page that comes up after you select the version you want. It just downloads an index.html file:
wget http://www.magentocommerce.com/getmagento/1.1.0/magento-1.1.0.tar.gz --2008-07-11 18:32:12-- http://www.magentocommerce.com/getmagento/1.1.0/magento-1.1.0.tar.gz Resolving www.magentocommerce.com... 208.69.122.7 Connecting to www.magentocommerce.com|208.69.122.7|:80... connected. HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 302 Found Location: http://www.magentocommerce.com/download/ [following] --2008-07-11 18:32:12-- http://www.magentocommerce.com/download/ Reusing existing connection to www.magentocommerce.com:80. HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK Length: unspecified [text/html] Saving to: `index.html'
And even better, why don’t you symlink the latest release to a path that’s always the same. It would help out tremendously for those that have created one-click installers and do manual installs all the time, e.g.:
@Varien/Magento: Could we get a symlink? It’s a 5 second task, and would be much appreciated as I’d like to rewrite our installer but would rather wait until this happens...a URL like this would be fine:
