No, I think you should chose my company: http://opengate.dk
There you can get a 1000$ per month personal webshop of up to 200MB. It is true!
I know it seems expensive but we add value. Look at this:
- we use two blocks of RAM instead of just one
- Our racks are all made of titanium
- We never make use of animal testing (in fact we never test at all)
- We have agreed with all world leaders that no nuclear weapons will be fired upon us if case the war breaks out
and best of all…
- All backup tapes are caried in vuitton purses to and from the safe.

...and the serious post:
Response times are slow from Denmark when using the A2Hosting.com. Support is great thourgh… So I just wrote the Alpha Helix and will try them out if they will let me.
Caching:
Should also say that the Typo3 CMS is great from anyserver even though it demans quite a few resources (RAM). It is due to it’s great caching capabilities that are built into the core so even complex pages are returned very fast from even the most remote webserver (as had it been a static webpage).
- It would be so great if the Magento could get something like a cahching engine so it would perform great even for people on the other side of the world. This will be needed for world wide shops and could be a future project - even though a very complex project.
I say this because I can install Typo3 and Magento on the same remote server (e.g. A2Hosting). Typo3 will respond very fast but the Magento will let me wait a while.
For anyone reading this thread and who may be looking for a web host, I would have to warn against Crucial. One of the reasons I decided to try Crucial was that they advertised free Magento installation on their web site. When I contact Crucial’s tech support to have this done, I was informed that they would charge me for this service. Only after I asked that my account be canceled, were they willing to install Magento for me.
After a couple of months I found that I was not satisfied with the performance and again asked that my account be canceled. In an email from Crucial’s customer service I learned that they had me on a slower server and offered to move me to a faster one if I stayed with them. I would not have even known that they had me on an older, slower server had I not contacted them to cancel, so I declined their offer. The worse part of this story is that Crucial continues to bill my credit card every month and refuses to cancel my service. I am now facing taking more drastic steps to reconcile this matter.

You submitted a ticket to Technical Support (#FVZ-604134) asking to have Magento installed. One of the technical support staff incorrectly stated the following:
Custom installations and site content support are not a part of our standard support package. I’m moving this ticket to our Billing department to see if a custom arrangement can be worked out.
Simple miscommunication. The very next post from another staff member even pointed this out:
We’ll be happy to install Magento for you if you would like. With such a large support staff mistakes are bound to happen in communications from time to time.
2 hours after you first submitted the ticket, Magento was installed.

You were provisioned to an older server, nothing more, nothing less. That’s just how hosting works. You have servers, people cancel on them, it frees up spots, and you can get provisioned to a new server or an old server. If clients ask to be moved to a faster server, we gladly move them.
You also did not decline the offer, and we did not give you an ultimatum. Here is exactly what was said:
I noticed that you are on an older class of server and if you would like, we could migrate your account to the newer class servers where you would see a performance benefit over your current environment.
We received no reply in that ticket from you.

The worse part of this story is that Crucial continues to bill my credit card every month and refuses to cancel my service. I am now facing taking more drastic steps to reconcile this matter.
In the very first ticket you submitted where you asked to have Magento installed, a staff member gave you a link to an FAQ entry on how to cancel your account:
We’ll also be happy to terminate your account and refund your money if you would like.
Simply follow the directions at the following url to cancel you service.
You never did. On May 14 you created a new ticket to cancel your hosting, where again you were asked (for veification purposes) to follow the instructions on the link above. You have still not done this.
All you need to do is follow the instructions on that URL and your account will be canceled. We’re not holding you hostage, stealing your money, purposely sending your to an older server, or whatever else you have claimed in your post. Please get the facts straight before trying to drag our name through the mud.
I registered for Crucial last week and found the entire process very smooth. From the control panel I ran a script to automatically install Magento - everything went perfect. My client is loving the speed with which we’re developing the site. Crucial’s infrastructure has been a big part in getting us off on the right foot.
I can’t speak to the speed issue as we’re not open for business yet, but even with the store in development it’s been snappy.
That’s great - is that with Crucial $100 a month Containers plan - or their $20 a month split plan?
Like the guy who originally posted the question budget is a serious concern.
To Crucial and Simple Helix:
Can you host more than one shop on the hosting plans you’ve advertised - again with budget in mind - if costs can be spread around it would greatly improve the attractiveness of the hosting solution.
Our standard plan lets you host up to 10 sites, all on our high performance platform for the fastest Magento experience. And the price is affordable at just $20/month. I can pretty much vouch in saying our hosting can pretty much outperform our competitors, whether it’s shared/vps/virtual dedicated/dedicated. We run a different type of infrastructure from the others as we are more geared towards high-traffic sites.
We are also a hands on managed hosting so you can pretty much ask us any type of questions you might have (we perform full install / upgrades / modifications). And we really pride our self on support, it’s fast, knowledgeable and responsive.
We been serving this type of business for over 4 years and have not had a single unsatisfied customer.
Thank you for your interest in Crucial. As an authorized Magento Partner we’ll be happy to assist you.
Since self promotion is supposed to be against the forum rules we ask that you please contact us via our regular sales and support channels for assistance.
No commercial advertising is permitted. Any posts deemed to be self promotion, advertising, or spam can and will be removed. NO SPAM - NO ADVERTISING eg. Posting and making excessive, inappropriate and unnecessary references to your products and websites is self promotion.
While the board rules may not be properly enforced, it is my strong belief that the rules are in place to keep the community from becoming nothing but posts such as those made above, full of affiliate links and self-promotion.
I believe it is time for the community to begin to take action to protect itself .
I haven’t read all the responses but I use Nexcess and their support is second to none! For the 5 tickets I’ve entered <yes, I’m an idiot> they responded on average within 15 minutes and helped me resolve my issues promptly! The high number of tickets were due to my stupidity, not their inability. They’re affordable and I don’t have any speed complaints. Feel free to PM me if you have other questions.

Still have a curious unanswer question from the topic:
===
@Simple Helix, what is that Godaddy secure website logo on your site about? Are you a Godady’s reseller? Yours is in my top list however I stay away from Godaddy.
===
By the way, if you really want to know about a host, I highly suggest you do a search on Web Hosting Talk. Just type in the name of the hosting company you want to learn about, and you’ll find all you want to know about them...the good, the bad, and the ugly:
No, we are not a Godaddy reseller but rather a reseller of Geotrust. We are just in the process of going about a new redesign and that should be removed soon. Btw, welcome aboard. =)
I’m fairly new to Magento and I decided to try it out on my existing host, Godaddy. Then I got my first client and customized a Magento installion for them and moved it to another domain I have to conduct a test. The site on Godaddy is so slow!!!
Then I read this thread and decided to try out another host. Given that Crucial has the Magento Container optional upgrade to, I decided to go with them and try out their shared-split plan first, to see if there was any improvement over Godaddy. My other concern here was to rule out Magento software as the culprit.
I was amazed at what I found, and wanted to share with you:
Both of these sites are the same code and DB—just different infrastructure. Crucial is MUCH faster platform for my Magento installation. I’m not stating that other hosts are bad, its just my experience has led me to move all my hosting away from Godaddy at this point give the results.
What are your thoughts?
I’m going to leave it this way for a couple days and then I’ll update my DNS to point to the new platform instead of using the IP address.
The best hosting I’ve used for Magento, by far, is SimpleHelix. They have great support and the program runs with EXCELLENT speeds. Check them out here. You won’t be disappointed. You can visit my site to see how well it works too...www.btiffny.com
