Magento

I go to System-->Magento Connect-->Manage extensions and I get an error message that says: Error: Please check for sufficient write file permissions.

I follow the link that is given at the bottom of that page and verified I have changed the folder permissions as it states to do but still no joy. Surely you don’t have to change the file permissions on EVERY folder under /magento/ do you?

got same problem, any help?

I went in and changed the file permissions on all folders in the /Downloader/ folder and that got me to the Magento Connect page. After that I entered the key and attempted to download the theme. Each time I tried I would get an error and it would state which folder didn’t have the correct permissions. I kept doing that, then change the permissions for the correct folder and start over. Finally after about 4 hours of doing that I got it to install and it’s now up and running.

The whole process would have been much easier if there had been a list of folders that needed to be 777 somewhere to follow. But, I have only been using magento for about a week. With a little more experience I might have better understood what to do.
