After hours of testing, tweaking, hacking and reading through numerous threads on here, I still can not get Google Checkout to calculate my shipping charges properly.
It just always keeps ignoring them. I have managed to get almost everything else sorted - so before the shop can open, I really need to make this work.
From what I have read here, many others seem to have the same problem.
If somebody from Varien could have a look at this and help us all out, that would be much appreciated!
I would like to know the answer to this too. However, I remember I had the same problem when I tried it with Zen-Cart and ended up just giving up on Google Checkout entirely… I wonder if it’s a Google issue?
I have actually spoken to a developer at Google Checkout support here in the UK, and while they do not support 3rd party applications directly, he was able to tell me that Magento was not passing on any shipping charges on to Google Checkout in my case.
I do not know what else to try, as if I can not use GC with Magento, I will have to use another shopping cart, as we only intend to use GC at this stage.
Chudkle...Thats a fix? Make weight 0, how is that going to calculate shipping. I too have just figured on giviing up on google checkout. It just doesn’t work, its apparetnly not getting passed proper information from magento, and that google guy from the UK seems to confirm that.. And until and unless they do somethihg about it, it cannot be used by anyone who has to have shipping calculated.
It seems that this is a problem that many are having. Is there a way for Magento staff to at least have a look at this? I do not want to be PM-ing them - not sure if they would approve of that...as I know they read and reply on these boards.
The issue is that unless Google Checkout is working, we can not use Magento.
Anna, I believe the “change weight to 0” fix was only for items where the weight was listed as a blank so as not to throw an error. It still doesn’t help solve the problem we are having, obviously, but they seem to believe their Google Checkout is working properly so I wonder if there are other factors at play. Hopefully someone will figure this out because it seems like a pretty big problem to me.
The person cited above who has it “working just fine” does not even have it on his site that I can see. And seems to offer free shipping, which is not the issue,. The issue is google checkout does not work with carrier calculated shipping.
Somebody said somehwere it will work if you click google checkout AFTER entering shipping address, but I don’t see anyway to do that. Once you start down the magento road of shippoing address, there is no “Google Checkout” button that I see.
