Hello,
thank you for that great Release of 1.0.
I have a feature request, would it be possible to have the same navigation feature in layered navigation for other decimal values as well? - like the size of memory or hd space and other attributes, which are based on decimal values
i think something like that could be kinda handy for the sellers and buyers

This can be done already.
1. Goto Admin > Catalog > Attributes.
2. Click on the desired attribute.
3. Near the bottom of the page you will see a ‘Use in Layered Navigation’ drop-down.
Note: the attribute in question has to be of type drop-down for this to work.
By default memory and hd size are input fields with the magento sample data. This can easily be changed for your store though.

i know that way, but this would force me to add the options manually and select the right option for each product
so have options with 0 - 20GB, 21 - 40GB… and would have to select that manually - but i dont have to do that with the price - magento is doing it for me

Hello,
I haven’t looked into this in any great detail, put it can be accomplished. Basically, if you look in app/code/core/Mage/Catalog/Block/Layer/Filter/, you will see how magento handles all of the various filters for the layered navigation. By default, category and price have been separated from other attributes and have their own block. This could easily be reproduced for another attribute, ie memory, hd etc. Like I said, I haven’t looked at in any great detail, but that’s where I would start to get an idea on how the price navigation is outputted and go from there.
Hope that helps,
Dan
