Our shipping requirements seem to be a stumbling block with shopping carts.  We have two classes of customers.  Retail customers that receive flat fee up to certain order level and percentage above that.  Example:  $10 s/h charge up to $100 order value.  Orders above $100 ship for 10%.

Ex:  $79.00 order ships for $10
$120.00 order ships for $12

It would seem a natural to incorporate percentage into flat shipping module so instances like we have for retail customers could be easily covered.

Wholesale customers purchase orders by the case and each case has a flat shipping fee associated with it. 

Ex:  Case product A = 175.00 s/h 14.50
Case product B = 120.00 s/h 10.95
total s/h for the two cases ordered $25.45

My current thinking is we will need to incorporate two webs (one retail & one wholesale) in our cart and use custom shipping module for each, retail using flat rate with percentage and wholesale using a custom shipping module with table for individual s/h cost of each SKU (case).

I don’t think either of our shipping methods is unusual.  Would certainly like to see the shipping/handling flexibility we need out of the box. 

I would like to see percentages worked into the table rate as well.  We use exactly the same setup (flat amount up to $100, percentage above that).

Couldn’t you just use voucher options to do this for you? something like spend under $100 and shipping is flat fee, spend over $100 and it is y%

The voucher options in Magento are impressive and may offer an interim solution at least.

Has anyone see a solution for this?  I am trying to do the same thing.  A flat rate ($10 for first $80 ordered) and then a percentage above that.

I am searching for a similar solution.
An example of our type of shipping table is as follows:

Order Total ......... Shipping Cost
$0 - $25 ..............$5
$25.01 - $50 ..... $9
$50.01 - $75 ..... $13
$75.01 - $100 ... $17
over $100 .......... 19% of total

Anyone know of a method for implementing the final ‘percentage of total’ calculation in the table rate CSV file?

Yes we are looking for the exact same thing.
