Hello to you all!

Here is my problem: I’ve just purchased a hosting service and those who sold it told me that their server was good for Magento. But now, after having tried it, I noticed that the current version of the PHP is not the 5.2 , as magento requires.

Here are server specifications:

Apache/2.2.3 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 PHP/5.1.6

If I’m not wrong, i have to install it using the php5-cgi, I uploaded the file in the cgi-bin folder, that is in the root directory.
I gave all permissions and I modified the .htaccess file.

Here is the probblem. It says:
“ Not Found - The requested URL /cgi-bin/php-cgi/index.php was not found on this server. “

I wish you can help me

Regards

Thanks dear..
I already opened a ticket but it seems that nobody want to answer me, even if I’ve already paid
Tomorrow I’ll call them and let’s see what they accept to do.

What If they refuse the upgrade? Is there something wrong in my workaround? What should I change?

I don’t thing there is something wrong with the workaround,

Are you on your own server or shear?

I did try the workaround to when I was on shear hosting and it did not work aether. So I am not sure about it. This is reason why I switch to my own server You have much more control.

And they have to upgrade this for you.

Good luck

May I ask why you are accessing “/cgi-bin/php-cgi/index.php”?
The PHP5 Binary php-cgi should be a single file that it referenced via the .htaccess (If I’m not mistaken). Also, you should access your installation via http://www.your_domain.com/magento/install

@anticop,

I would suggest you to make sure

1. the cgi file name is /cgi-bin/php-cgi (not php5-cgi);

2. the cgi-bin directory is specified with the ScriptAlias apache option by your host

It’s a little late now, but for those of you still having this problem, I fixed it by re-uploading the php5-cgi file and forcing my ftp client to use binary.  This alone fixed the 500 internal error that I continued to have.

Hope this is of help to some of you.

Hello,

Apologies if I am posting in the wrong place. I have been trying to download the PHP5 library file

(http://www.magentocommerce.com/support/php5cgi/php5-cgi) and have posted a request for assistance but with no joy. I just cannot download this file - most time it stops at 1%, sometimes at 29% and it is incredibly slow. If anyone can either zip it up and attach it here it would really help me out

Thanks
