Hi,
Actually I would try to import all products by uploading csv. It shows an error “Image does not exist.”.
Images are on remote server with write permissions in media/import folder.
Any quick idea!
Thanks In Advance!

Could you please provide me with URL to your store?

I want to check HTML code of the product IMG tags.

Make sure your import file has a prepending slash for image

“sku”,"image"
“ABC123”,"/abc123.jpg"
.....

I have the same problem when try import data, used old profiles.

Images already are at server in media -> catalog -> Product -> i -> m path

They are same case like in CSV

They have / symbol before image name

I try using /i/m/image_name.jpg

BUT nothig works.

New profiles in Magento give me SKU errors, old profiles didn’t import because they didn’t see images.

Guys does something work in Magento community edition or only many errors and no answers ?

i manged to solve the problem by opening the exported csv file using notepad++

and replace

"/

with

"/media/catalog/product/

after that… all imports worked like a charm…

before you import, remember to copy the entire media folder from old location(folder) to new location(folder) (or transfer to new server, which ever is applicable)

Same problem.
I’ve always use this method to import products with images:
- putting all the images to import in “/media/import”;
- add “/image_name.jpg” to image column;

Since magento 1.5.1 this method stop working.
I always get “Image Does not exist!”.

Did you find a solution?

This is a known bug using the standard import. Use Dataflow and everything works correctly.

Please ensure you have not installed ImportProduct module/extension/plugin whatever that is called before proceeding with the import…

if you have received errors in system log… ERR (3): Notice: Undefined index:  gallery in /home/yourserverpath/public_html/w2/magento/app/code/community/CapacityWebSolutions/ImportProduct/Model/Convert/Adapter/Product.php on line 347

if you installed the free ImportProduct from magento store please make sure you uninstall the extension/plugin before proceeding with the normal product import method, otherwise, you might end up with a corrupted/duplicated image database… like i did LOL

*if you end up with a corrupted database with duplicated photos… you will have to delete all products and rerun the import UNLESS you want to delete the photos manually… which will take quite some time if you have like 100+ or even thousands of products LOL

I actually posted my solution over a month ago… =_=||| dunno why still have people asking for the solution for “image not found”

THIS IS THE SOLUTION THAT SOLVED MY ISSUE WITH image not found error.
sorry for the caps lol…

Summary:
Step 1copy your original MEDIA folder to yournewmagentoroot/media
Step 2
copy your original MEDIA folder to yournewmagentoroot/media/import/media
Step 3
open your exported product csv file using notepad++ or something similar
that doesnt
try to change the structure of the file, and
rename
all
"/
instances to
"/media/catalog/product/

if you want to understand what is going on behind the scenes, then read on...

the reason for the error “image not found” is either because
1. you have not copied the entire “MEDIA” folder to your new magento file location
eg. yourmagentoRoot/media
ie. if you do not copy the new files to your new magento directory… errrr… need i say more?

2. you have not copied the entire “MEDIA” folder to your new magento/var/import directory...
eg. yourmagentoRoot/media/import/media
i think this is because magento look for files inside the import directory during import sessions instead of root directories… you can probably edit the magento scripts to overcome this issue, but i prefer not to touch the scripts and solve the problem via clean method… well not so clean if u consider the duplicated data lol but i think u can delete the files inside import folder afterwards..

3. i suspect the export of your OLD magento version saved the location of the pictures into csv is different from the expected locations of your NEW magento version… or there is simply an error in the import/export script...
- hence during the import, magento can’t locate the pictures!!
try my method if step 1 and 2 doesn’t solve your problem… see below :

I have experienced the error when I tried to export products from 1.4.0.1 to 1.5
what i did:

i replaced all instances in exported CSV of

"/
with
"/media/catalog/product/

using notepad++ (free, just search on google and download )

after that… everything worked like I mentioned in my original reply… =D

enable system log if u suspect/experience of other errors…

This is a known bug using the standard import. Use Dataflow and everything works correctly.

when importing from 1.4.0.1 to 1.5

altho i used Dataflow for the import…
i experienced the image does not exist error…

i suspect the error is caused by newer magento versions…
newer versions might have updated the export scripts to read directly from the root of magento..
hence the image loc might be relative to the magento root.

when EXPORTing from older versions
the picture paths are stored in csv as

/d/s/
instead of
/media/catalog/product/d/s/
whereas during the IMPORT
the new magento tries to read directly from the magento root dir…
instead of
/media/catalog/product/
hence EXPORT function can’t find the file.. --> “Image Does not exist!”

For what it’s worth I solved my problem by uploading the contents of my /media/catalog/product dir in /media/import.

For example if I have a file named image.jpg, it should be placed as::

[path]/media/import/i/m/image.jpg

and NOT as::

[path] /media/import/media/catalog/product/i/m/image.jpg

This will help keeping the csv/xml untouched.

Simple Solution (Magento ver. 1.5.1.0)

Step 1 - Upload your images to /media/import

Step 2- In CSV file - Enter image names in 3 fields as Follows. (replace Test1.jpg with your Image name)

image ----------- small_image -------------- thumbnail
/Test1.jpg ----------- /Test1.jpg -------------- /Test1.jpg

It worked for me - grin - I hope this helps.

Note - Once uploaded - Need to remove the images from /media/import folder else if you run the profile again - you would have multiple images in image tab.

I wish /media/import folder would have cleaned up itself once uploaded all images to it’s proper location.  anyone have idea on this?

Hi,

I have tried all of the above suggestions. Placed the image in all different folders and amended the csv files accoridngly.

Is there no definitive answer to getting this right??
