I am having a strange issue with the “My Account” section. When someone registers for the first time and they click on My Account, the layout is not right. It looks like the .col-main section has been removed from the col-2-left-layout section. However, once the person places an order and you go back to the My Account page, its laid out correctly. I have no idea where I went wrong here or what file I should be fixing. I’m guessing it might have something to do with my XML file??

I’m in the process of breaking apart a few of the page elements up so that I can use them in a more freely in our site template, and I appear to have come across what appears to be a bug (i think).

The problem relates to the top links (My Account, My Wishlist etc) and links generated in the footer (Site Map, Search Terms etc) and that they appear to be both using the same bit of code to generate the links, which is think is incorrect.

The code they both appear to be using is:

/app/design/frontend/default/default/template/page/template/links.phtml

but I would have thought that links at the top should be using (though a changes in this file appears not to do anything):

/app/design/frontend/default/default/template/page/html/top.links.phtml

Is this a known issue or am I going mad?

Hi all,

we have a serious problem concerning the CMS-pages.

It is impossible for us to edit the templates. Everytime I save something under e.g. “/index.php/admin/cms_page/edit/page_id/3/”, more escape characters appear. So it is impossible to edit CMS pages without correcting these mistakes via direct editing the database.

We run:
Magento Version 1.0.19700
MySQL Version 5.0.45
PHP Version 5.2.5

Following my Issue in the Bugtracker, this Problem was solved some months ago…

The ones I found posted in this forum seem not to work anymore with the last version (8.1.7)
I can’t show in the middle the grid of products (one cateogry, random, by date, or something that could work).

Thank you

So I’m working on setting up an online store for a client of mine who is only selling one to three products at most. With that in mind, I’m looking at designing a bare bones front-end. Taking a look at a few well designed super simple online stores, I’ve made a list of the minimal features this store needs:
- Color selection
- Quantity selection
- Size selection
- Other views of the product
- Size chart
- Simple one column design
- Simple shopping cart and checkout

I’ve skimmed through the designer guide here and have an idea of how skinning for Magento works. Now for this bare bones design, would it be better/easier for me to just make a new theme under the default interface or create a whole new interface and theme?
