Hey all,
I\\\\\\\’m having issues with the extension. I\\\\\\\’m a noob so please bare with me. I installed the extension as the video instructed and changed the permission on the m.php file but i\\\\\\\’m getting some weird issues. Here is my link: http://weaversart.ca/v2/lib/minify/m.php. When doing step 2: lib/minify/m.php?f=/skin/frontend/default/default/css/print.css, i can see the printed css script but there\\\\\\\’s nothing for step 3: skin/m/1232681243/skin/frontend/default/default/css/print.css . I checked the zip file and there wasn\\\\\\\’t anything inside the skin/m folder.

Can anyone help? I\\\\\\\’m a bit lost.

Manual Uninstallation

If somehow your installation is broken so you can’t get to the /downloader to uninstall the Speedster extension you can manually uninstall like so:

0.) If you have previously used Magento’s compilation tool, turn it off

1.) delete this from your .htaccess (if it exists)

## Compress, Combine and Cache Javascript/CSS
RewriteRule ^(index.php/)?minify/([^/]+)(/.*.(js|css))$ lib/minify/m.php?f=$3&d;=$2

2.) edit “true” to “false” in /app/etc/modules/Fooman_Speedster.xml

3.) refresh your cache or delete all files under /var/cache

-> FOOMAN Speedster should now be uninstalled - to completely remove it delete the following files/folders after performing the above steps

/app/etc/modules/Fooman_Speedster.xml
/app/code/community/Fooman/Speedster (folder)
/var/minifycache (folder)
/lib/minify (folder)
/js/prototype/validation-4min.js (if it exists)
/skin/m (folder, if it exists)

4.) (optional) re-run Magento’s compilation before turning it back on

Hi,

I couldn’t find another topic on this issue - I hope I’m not the only one:

Speedster is installed and working on my 1.4.1.1. shop.

Viewing my website through Google Webmaster Tools (view as Google bot) every URL has an ?frontend=g54sgbku4h7rl8melpn283msl5 at the end. Letters and numbers after = are always different.

Google lists my URLs as duplicates. Does anyone have an idea where this is coming from?

Troubleshooting and bug reports

Hi all,

when reporting any issues please do the following after installing the extension:

1.) Visit the url: http://YOURMAGENTOWEBSITE/lib/minify/m.php

This should return
HTTP/1.0 404 Not Found

2.) Visit the url: http://YOURMAGENTOWEBSITE/lib/minify/m.php?f=/skin/frontend/default/default/css/print.css

You should see css in a condensed form. Also files starting with minify_ should be written to /var/minifycache.

3.) Change to address http://YOURMAGENTOWEBSITE/skin/m/1232681243/skin/frontend/default/default/css/print.css
This should show the identical file from step 2.
OR on Speedster versions < 2.0
http://YOURMAGENTOWEBSITE/minify/1232681243/skin/frontend/default/default/css/print.css

4.) Go to http://YOURMAGENTOWEBSITE and view the source

Copy and paste the address for the CSS and or JS files into your browser address bar. This should now give a minified output of all your requested files.

When reporting bugs please verify that you have followed the instruction carefully and let me know and what stage your installation runs into trouble. The net tab of the firebug firefox extension is generally helpful in finding out what is not loading correctly.

If Speedster is enabled, inline js does not work.

I installed Speedster following the instructions. If I check the code-source of the page, I see it is working properly when calling the css and the js inside the html head. But some of my inline javascript (most of them - or maybe all) just breaks. The firebug’s console show some errors that I can’t see a reason to be happening, like: VarienForm is not defined.

The errors are this:

element.attachEvent is not a function
Translate is not a constructor
VarienForm is not defined
element.dispatchEvent is not a function

The result of the troubleshooting posted by Fooman is:

1) HTTP/1.0 404 Not Found

2) I see a little css. 5 lines of code.

3) Same as step 2.

4) I see minified css and js. Though, there is more than one call, is it normal? Code follows below.

Fooman speedster enabled in admin, disabled in public website??

Hi,

I don’t understand. It worked at first, but now I just noticed that fooman speedster seems to be disabled on my frontend. The admin files are minified perfectly, but the css and js on the frontend side are like if Fooman Speedster had never been installed… When I follow the troubleshoot guide, everyting seem ok. Except that nothing changes on my frontend pages.

Do anyone know what could cause this? Maybe I changed something that disabled it by mistake, but I can’t seem to find what :-(

I installed in 1.6.0 - clean install, followed all steps but CSS broken!

Has anyone tested in 1.6.0 and encountered any issues?
