Hi,

Before going further in Open ERP, I would like to know if the synchronization is compatible with a multisite magento installation, and how it appears in open ERP.

Regards,

We recently did a Q & A of a test setup of the connector with our OpenERP partner. Here are the results:

Question:

I’ve read the Smile documentation and have come across one major missing feature. By moving the
work flow from Magento to OpenERP we no longer have a facility to automatically inform the
client of the status of their order: open > paid > back ordered > on hold > cancelled > picked >
shipped. This would have to be done via manual emails. Can you confirm that there is currently no
feature that will automatically send the client an email when their order gets marked as one of the
different states I just mentioned.

Answer:

As of now, OpenERP will not send any mail notifying the customer about the state change.

Question:

Is there currently a place where we can store order tracking numbers?

Answer:

We can use the “sale order number"/"order reference” to track the order.

Question:

Can we list products in multiple categories in OpenERP/Smile Connector current form? We definitely need many products to fit into more than one category.

Answer:

As of now, it is not possible to have same product in multiple category.

Question:

In the systems current form how does it work with the price list with items that are in stock and items that are on order? As the system is setup right now, can you list items in Magento that are in stock AND other items that are on order? Please explain.

Answer:

Current OpenERP price list do not consider if the product is “in stock” or “on order”. Procurement sub workflow of sale order workflow is the one handling it. If the procurement method is “on order”, on confirming a sale order, it will create a purchase order to a supplier defined on the product.

Question:

From my testing it appears that if you enter information into Magento’s product fields certain information is being overwritten during the product synchronization and certain information stays. Meta data, secondary categories etc. are overwritten. Tags and reviews remain. What are our options for only keeping certain information in OpenERP for products and putting the rest of the information into Magento. Products would be added to OpenERP first and then information added once they were imported into Magento. Thoughts please?

Answer:

With OpenERPmagento connector, it assumes that all the product details will be entered in OpenERP and OpenERP should manage all the details of products on magento. But smile connector is not managing all the fileds of product on magento. Details like Tags and reviews are not part of OpenERP product and OpenERP connector cannot manage it. But Smile connector will update other details on synchronizing products.

Question:

Is there a feature whereby we can import supplier price lists? Please explain how this works. So for instance I might want to import all of the products from a supplier price list into OpenERP and then add product attributes like description later. I’d also like to be able to quickly update prices in bulk by importing supplier price lists. Is this feature currently installed how does it work?

Answer:

As of now, OpenERP do not support direct import of “supplier pricelist”. But with the help of EDI module, you should be able to import any standaredized “supplier pricelist"/"Purchase pricelist”. Also, with very little modification on OpenERP (1hr), users can import the CSV formated supplier pricelist directly into OpenERP.

Question:

What is the Magento web flag feature that is currently selected in OpenERP under the Magento section?

Answer:

Magento web flag: OpenERP will try to connect and update to magento server only if this flag is active.

Question:

How often does at the Smile Auto Update feature update magento if we select it (turn it on)?

Answer:

Enhance auto update for products and category : with this filed is active, every time the user update any product or category, the connector will connect and update the magento server.
